Negin Ahmadi, MA, NCC
Negin Ahmadi is a National Certified Counselor with a master’s degree in counseling from Northwestern University. She specializes in child and adolescent counseling and has extensive experience helping children, adolescents, and families develop tailored and practical strategies for improved self-awareness, communication, and interconnectedness. She is trained in providing ethical and empathetic care to children, adolescents, and emerging adults with diverse identities and presenting mental health concerns, including trauma-related conditions, anxiety and depressive disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, interpersonal conflicts, anger management difficulties, loneliness, and low self-esteem.
Negin’s trauma-informed, client-centered approach draws from psychodynamic, narrative, and systemic therapy practices, which she supplements with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions. Negin aims to help clients heal from acute and chronic traumas, divorces, deaths of beloved family members or friends, and addictions. Negin supports women through life transitions, including perinatal and postpartum experiences, grief and loss, and relationship dynamics that impact one’s sense of self. Negin also brings specialized knowledge of the mental, emotional, and physical impacts of chronic diseases and autoimmune disorders on individuals, couples, and families, and she values creating space for those whose lived experiences may not always feel seen or validated elsewhere.
Negin’s goal is to collaboratively traverse the layers of grief and sorrow clients are experiencing and help them better understand, express, and distinguish between culturally contrived expectations and deeper inner yearnings.
In addition to her clinical and research interests, Negin is dedicated to advocating for legislative changes that promote equitable mental health services. In her free time, Negin remains committed to self-care by swimming, doing restorative yoga, and going for long walks through the city.
