Volunteer with Advocate Hospice

Volunteer With Us
Advocate Hospice has just expanded its territory and is now serving patients all through the Chicago Northland. We are currently seeking compassionate volunteers for our program.

About Us
Hospice is a program designed specifically for people who have chosen to change the plan of care for a terminal illness from aggressive medical treatment, focused on curing an illness, to palliative care - care that manages pain and symptoms so patients can make the most of every day. Hospice doesn't focus on dying, but on living well and with dignity during the time that is left.

How You Can Help
These are just a few of the reasons why people join the Advocate Hospice Volunteer Program. Volunteers support terminally ill patients and their families by:

  • Holding a hand or feeding a pet
  • Offering compassion or companionship
  • Providing respite for caregivers
  • Providing emotional support
  • Baking a cake, helping with errands, working in the Advocate Hospice office
  • Bringing meals or listening
  • Reading to patients
  • Touching a heart
  • Changing a life

For more information contact Claire Smith, Volunteer Coordinator, at 224-330-5463.
